January 5, 2010 Board Meeting Agenda Item #28 Title APPROVAL OF THE SARASOTA HIGH SCHOOL GRAPHIC DESIGN AND JOURNALISM FIELD TRIP TO NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK, ON MARCH 16, 2010 THROUGH MARCH 19, 2010 Description Sarasota High newspaper and yearbook students will participate in the annual Columbia Scholastic Press Association Convention at Columbia University in New York City.  Columbia Graduate School sponsors this event.  Students will have the opportunity to participate in over 300 possible sessions that will run simultaneously throughout the convention.  The CSPA convention is an international convention uniting student journalists and faculty advisers through educational seminars, idea exchanges and awards programs.  Additionally, students will visit various locations of interest in New York City. Recommendation That the Sarasota High School Graphic Design and Journalism field trip to New York City, New York, on March 16, 2010 through March 19, 2010, be approved.
